TEAM MEMBERS

Drivetrain/Innovation- Matt Van Biervliet

 

Matt is a senior mechanical engineering student at The College of New Jersey. He will be designing a drivetrain that will maximize the power and efficiency for both the sprint and endurance competition. Additionally, he will be designing a user friendly automatic shifting apparatus to integrate with the drivetrain. He is a member of the Varsity Swim team and a Scholar All-American Honorable Mention. In his free time he enjoys reading, hanging out with his friends and eating.

 

Frame - Caitlin Travis

 

Caitlin is a senior Mechanical Engineering student at The College of New Jersey. She will be designing a frame that is light-weight and easily assessable. The design includes an adjustable seat to accommodate a variety of heights. Caitlin is a member of Alpha Phi Omega, an on campus community service fraternity and enjoys hanging out with friends, dancing and music. 

Team Manager/Fairing - Matthew Iannarone

 

Matthew is a senior mechanical engineering student at The College of New Jersey.  He will be responsible for the budget as well as ensuring specific deadlines are met as the team manager.  In addition, he will be responsible for the design of the fairing and its integration with the rest of the vehicle.  Matthew is a volunteer firefighter/EMT with the Pennington Road Fire Company in Ewing Township and is a member of the club tennis team. 

Braking/Safety - Nicholas Cascia

 

Nick is a senior Mechanical Engineering student at The College of New Jersey. He will be designing a braking system to safely stop the vehicle within competition regulations. He is working on incorporating the use of regenerative braking technologies in order to power a small battery. Additionally, he will incorporate various safety features into the overall design of the vehicle. Nick is a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, TCNJ Club Ultimate, and enjoys sports and hanging out with friends.

Peter is a senior mechanical engineer student at The College of New Jersey. He will be responsible for designing a steering system with the goal of minimizing the turning radius and maximizing the stability of the vehicle. He is a member of the TCNJ rugby team as well as the fraternity, Phi Kappa Tau. Peter enjoys his free time snowboarding, recording music, and traveling.

 

Steering - Peter Resotka

ADVISORS

Dr. Norman Asper

​

Dr. Norman Asper received his degree from Ohio State University in 1969. He currently teaches TST 161- Creative Design. Dr. Asper is also an adviser for the ASME Solar Boat team and the SAE Supermileage team.

Dr. Shou-Rei Chang

 

Dr. Shou-Rei Chang received his doctorate from the University of Massachussets Lowell in 1990.  He is the main faculty adviser for this years team as well as the SAE Mini Baja team.
